Localized modes in capped single-walled carbon nanotubes
We study numerically small-amplitude oscillations in capped single-walled carbon nanotubes and predict the existence of surfacemodes localized at capped tips of the nanotubes. These modes are similar to the surface Tamm states found in solids and optics at the edges of truncated lattices.
