Spin Polarization of 37 K Produced in a Single-Proton Pickup Reaction at Intermediate Energies

Groh, D E; Mantica, Paul F; Stuchbery, Andrew; Stolz, A; Mertzimekis, T J; Rogers, W F; Davies, A D; Liddick, S N; Tomlin, B E

Description

Positive spin polarization of 37K nuclei produced in a single proton pickup reaction was observed at the peak of the 37K momentum yield curve. A kinematical model based on conservation of linear and angular momentum was used to explain the observed qualitative variation in spin polarization produced by proton pickup at similar energies.
