In the course of researching his doctoral thesis 'Goumindang propaganda and the formation of popular attitudes towards the National Revolution in China in the 1920s', John Fitzgerald unearthed a series of articles written for Goumindang's Zhengzhi Zhoubao (Political Weekly) by Chairman Mao Zedong, under the alias of 'Ziren'. These works shed new light on the early political life of the revolutionary leader.
