Shallow marine Paleo- and Mesoproterozoic sedimentary successions are widely distributed in several major basins across northern Australia. The successions are only gently deformed, and their stratigraphy is relatively continuous, thus offering an ideal opportunity to document secular variations in carbon isotopes.
