Phylogenetic Relationships of Elapid Snakes Based on Cytochrome b mtDNA Sequences

Published molecular phylogenetic studies of elapid snakes agree that the marine and Australo-Melanesian forms are collectively monophyletic. Recent studies, however, disagree on the relationships of the African, American, and Asian forms.
