Aniphiphilic cobalt(III) cage complexes with bridgehead octyl, dodecyl and hexadecyl hydrocarbon chain substituents have been synthesized simply by co-condensation of formaldehyde and long chain aliphatic aldehydes with the tripodal cobalt(III) hexaamine
