Interaction of Glass Surfaces in Air: Dispersion Forces in the Retarded Regime
Measurements on Pyrex glass whose surface was made smooth by melting were reported. The molecular smoothness of fused glass surfaces allows simultaneous measurement of long-range forces and contact deformations. The measurements were done with a novel SFA that utilizes a capacitor to measure displacement.
