Description

The momentum transfer cross section for electrons incident on mercury atoms has been determined from the solution of Dirac-Fock scattering equations which included both static and dynamic multipole polarization potentials as well as full anti-symmetrization to incorporate exchange effects. This cross section is in excellent agreement between 0.2 and 3.0 eV with the cross section derived from the most recent experimental measurements.
