Investigation of gas stripping at 4.1 MeV for high mass negative ions

We have used a tandem accelerator to measure charge state distributions at 4.1 MeV for negative ions ranging from carbon to uranium oxide passing through the gases helium, argon and xenon. The gas density was varied over a wide range to observe the onset
