Tunable Refraction in Nonlinear Optically-Induced Photonic Lattices

Rosberg, Christian; Neshev, Dragomir; Krolikowski, Wieslaw; Sukhorukov, Andrey; Kivshar, Yuri

We demonstrate tunable positive and negative refraction of Bloch waves in optically-induced photonic lattices. At high laser intensities, the beam broadening due to diffraction can be suppressed through nonlinear self-focusing while preserving the steering properties.
