Local fluorescent dye excitation with guided second-harmonic in lithium niobate nanowires

Description

We have generated second-harmonic (SH) signal in lithium niobate (LiNbO3) nanowires (NWs) to locally excite fluorescent dye in typical cell staining concentration. We show the second-order behavior of the SH signal in a NW with cross-section of 400x600 nm2. A guided SH power of 63±6 pW is needed to detect dye excitation in a 1 μg/ml DAPI dye solution.
