Daily, Immediate Conflicts: an Analysis of Villagers Arguments about a Multinational Nickel Mining Project in New Caledonia

Local communities are not the homogenous entities, unanimously opposed to industrial development, that academic and popular literature often portray them to be. In this paper, I discuss my research in New Caledonian villages near a potential mining project.
