Recognizing episodic lithospheric thinning along a convergent plate margin: the example of the Early Oligocene Alps
Large scale tectonic mode switches from lithospheric shortening to lithospheric extension may play a fundamental role in the tectonometamorphic evolution of orogens located along convergent plate margins.
