Amoebapore A is a pore-forming protein produced by the pathogenic parasite Entamoeba histolytica, which causes human amoebic dysentery. The pore-forming activity of amoebapore A is regulated by pH-dependent dimerization, a prerequisite for membrane insertion and pore formation.
