The advent of new microanalytical techniques such as electron microprobe mapping (EMP) and laser ablation microsamplers coupled to mass spectrometers (LA-ICP-MS) provides a new array of possibilities to explore in great detail the trace elements distribution in foraminiferal carbonates.
