Richard Eves is an anthropologist, and Senior Fellow in the State Society & Governance in Melanesia Program at the College of Asia and the Pacific, Australian National University.

Dr Eves is also a peace and anti-nuclear activist. During 1982-1984 he was an activist with the Campaign Against Nuclear Energy (CANE), an Adelaide based organisation which was part of an Australia wide coalition (Coalition for a Nuclear Free Australia). In 1984 Eves was a member of the CANE Co-ordinating Collective and part-time organiser.

He was Visiting Research Fellow, University of East Anglia 1996; Visiting Fellow in Commonwealth Studies, Cambridge University 1999-2000; 2004 ARC QE II Research Fellow at the Australian National University.
