View of area between saloon bar and lounge, with staircase. The entrance floor is linoleum, stairs are covered with a fernleaf patterned carpet and the walls are faced with veneer panels. Modern style chrome and leather or vinyl covered chairs line the walls and lighting is provided by a hanging bud shaped light. There is a potted palm on a pedestal and the walls are decorated with mirror tiles and vase fixtures with flowers.The Clarendon Hotel was purchased by Tooth & Company in September 1934 and sold in August 1985. On completion of rebuilding in January 1943 the hotel was a three storeyed brick structure with a fully tiled ground floor exterior and an asbestos and malthoid roof. The architectural style is known as P. & O. Ship Style because of its similarities to ocean liner forms.
