This book arose as the product of a discussion at a workshop held at the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies (CAIS) (The Middle East and Central Asia) at the Australian National University. Over two days in late November 2014, the workshop participants, many of whom had to travel across half the world to reach Canberra, compared notes and exchanged opinions on the latest developments in and around Afghanistan
