Photonic crystal (PhC) nanocavities have attracted much attention recently for their high-Q, low-volume resonances, with applications in optical switching, cavity quantum electrodynamics, sensing, and many others. While the highest Q-factors have been reported in 2D planar photonic crystal cavities, interest has been growing in 1D waveguide nanocavities [1].
