The first novel I talk about today is Elizabeth Brundage's apparition of things - a metaphysical literary noir, a novel that presents us with a fragment of America from a former farm "Hale a Chosen". At the beginning of the 1960's, the country was rapidly transforming into the playground of the rich and New York academics, on the verge of the economic collapse of failed farmers
