The Springbank Island Archaeological Project
This paper presents the results of recentarchaeological investigations carried out on the3.64ha Springbank Island, located within the West Basin of Lake Burley Grifn. This was the location for 'Springbank Homestead', the earliest owner occupiedhomestead in present day Canberra. It was also in a region of signicance for Traditional Owners. The following sections provide historical and archaeologicalinformation about a site that continues to be a popularmeeting place for the Canberra community.
