Title: Febi arriving by truck to the Koroba Provincial High School for the end of year district cultural celebrations
Author(s): Photographer: David R. Eastburn, 1949-
Description: This photograph was taken at Koroba Provincial High School, via Koroba, Southern Highlands (now Hela) Province, Papua New Guinea. Koroba Local Government Council trucks collected the Febi group from Hareke village, between Kelabo and Arou mission stations, on the Tumbudu Valley road between Koroba and Lake Kopiago. Hareke is where the main track from Febi territory emerges on a vehicle road. Several weeks before the celebrations were to begin, food (rice and cans of fish) was sent down the track for the Febi visitors. At the beginning of the year, parents, students and local community members had also prepared large sweet potato gardens in the Koroba High School grounds to feed the guests while at the school. A large amount of beef was also obtained from the local butchery for guests to try. At the end of the celebrations, the Febi contingent was transported back to Hareke and supplied with food for the return trip.
