The photoredox catalysts pheophorbide a (PheoA) and zinc tetraphenylporphine (ZnTPP) under illumination display strong selectivity toward reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) agents containing thiocarbonylthio groups, namely dithiobenzoates, xanthates, and trithiocarbonates.
