Description: Aurangzeb did not spare Benares in his iconoclastic rage and in great haste built a mosque in very doubtful taste on the ruins of an old temple. Decadence is complete. A wall of the old temple of which Aurangzeb made use to erect his mosque can be seen in this photograph.
