dc.description | There seems to be a return to 14th century styles in this mausoleum from Sikandra built in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, for the typical dome over a square has been omitted, and the main portal is practically as high as the total elevation of the building. A return to the tripartite facade is also inevidence
dc.description | two bays flank the central doorway and are penetrated with two Mihrab-shaped balconies to reproduce the two-storied effect the simple artificial division line had formerly served to do. In this case, though, the stories do exist. Setting the precedent for the Taj Mahal, the minarets are divided by broad balconies themselves and taper toward the top where a small raised cupola crowns the summit of the tower. Again, the dividing lines on the towers are functional, not merely decorative. With respect to decoration on the facade proper, color is of considerable importance
dc.description | flower and geometric motifs interchange freely over the surface, and the jali motif has been confined to the roof to form a crenelated design.
