Review: major depression affects about 7% of adults aged 75 and above
Description
Luppa et al present a thorough review of the prevalence of depression in latest life. Similar to previous reviews, this review reports that prevalence rates vary greatly between studies. While differences in inclusion criteria complicates comparison with prior reviews, the ranges in prevalence rates for major depression are not dissimilar: Djernes reported 0.9–9.4%, Beekman et al reported 0.4– 10.2%, and the present review reports 4.6–9.3%
