Description: This head, (which can be dated from middle of 6th cent.) is that of the Bodhisattva Padmapani, the "lotus bearer", It is one of the most beautifully expressive pieces of Ajanta carving, Time has blurred the outlines but the delicacy of the features and the calm of this figure are astonishing, The maesty of the pose, the execution, the sensitive expression, reflect the high degree of mastery of their subject which the artists of Ajanta had reached,
