Cave 19 at Ajanta represents the end of the development of the refined Classic Gupta style in Indian art, Its interior has the beauty of a cathedral, and some of its murals have the solemnity and dignity of stained glass windows, As illustrated in our detail, the main subject of decoration was the image of the Buddha whose infinite gentility and grace pervades every pictorial representation of him, Mahayana Buddhism, emphasizing the deification of the Buddha, had its purpose well served in the murals depicting over and over again the seated figure of the master: like the facade decorations multiplying the chaitya windows into patterns which became numerous little shrines each housing a Buddha image: radiating the absolute enlightenment, The same technique of painting used in cave 9 at this site has been preserved while the actual application of the frescoes and the treatment of the figures in them has improved with time, Light and shadow modelling still produce the most interesting sculptural effects,
