dc.descriptionIllustrated in a section of an architrave forming a Chaitya window or Chaitya door, the entranc to a temple of the Buddhists, Like the stupas, a traditional form of decorative sculpture was worked out for this building practically from the onset, In this case, befitting a temple of any sort, a lengthy procession is carved on the arch showing people of every sort coming to the temple entrance, Carriages can be seen as well as horsemen while the majority of people walk, The composition has been adapted to the structure of the surface it covers so that, unlike the lintels of the stupa gateways, which could be read across a single horizontal or from the center outward, this narrative is singularly expressive: the entire scene deals with one message: the procession, Its style is less refined than our previously discussed reliefs, perhaps because of the location of the carving and the sort of theme with which it deals, -- New Delhi, Central Asian Antiquities Museum, (Kankali Tila?),
