Description: Indications of a more spiritual Buddha type begin to appear toward the close of the Kushan period in Ghandara, A more abstract treatment is given the figure: particularly noticeable in the hair: tieing the image closer to native fashion than to outside influences in the process, Buddha's gaze has been directed toward his feet, and his expression is increasingly introverted, Remnants of the 'classical' browline are yet present, this feature will continue to exist in Indian sculpture and become increasingly refined to the point where it will no longer be a western element, -- London, British Museum,
