Description: This is the oldest stupa at Sanchi and is contemporary with that of Bharhut: It is constructed of large stones and is less massive than the others, The upright posts and cross-pieces of the surrounding railing are adorned with decorative motifs of a rather archaic nature which are stylistically more closely related to the decoration of Bharhut than to that of the Great Stupa at Sanchi which comes later in time, The stupa lies on the slope of whale back hill which also carries other stupas, and faces west over the plain,
