dc.descriptionAnother member of the 'folk-art' group are the numerous toys for children produced by the Indus Valley peoples, Perhaps the most familiar of these is the bird whistle known to many of us from our own childhoods, This toy was made of clay and was quite simply modeled in the general form of a little bird, handle-like at the feet in order to be held easily in the hand, Like other clay figures made expressly for the young ones, the decorational elements are kept at a minimum, notice that the bird is completely plain in this example, Others like it might have been painted to some extent in their original state, however,
