The 'Quartet' is an informal diplomatic mechanism designed to coordinate the efforts of major actors within the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Formed in 2001, the grouping is composed of representatives from the United States, the European Union, Russia and the Office of the UN Secretary General.
