The Evolution of QSO Spectra
Using data from the IUE satellite, it has recently been shown that the emission-lines of radio-quiet QSOs evolve between z=2 and the present, and those of radio-loud QSOs apparently do not. This surprising link between the hitherto disparate mysteries of QSO evolution, radio-loudness and emission-line structure may offer an important clue to all three problems. We propose to use HST archive spectra to confirm this result, and to identify the reason for the spectral evolution. The superior...[Show more]
