Lorimer, Inglis and R.L.S.: law and the kailyard lockup

Maharg, Paul

Description

The views on the role of lawyers and the law expressed by Robert Louis Stevenson in his writings are examined by Dr. Paul Maharg of Glasgow Caledonian University against the background of other, more establishment sources, Professor James Lorimer and Lord President Inglis. Dr. Maharg concludes that 'if Inglis, Lorimer and Stevenson are divided in their analyses, all of them are agreed on the centrality of politics to law and its historical process'.
