A comparison of two theories of dense fluids

Watts, Robert Oliver

Description

An improved method for obtaining solutions to integral equations for the two-particle distribution functions of simple fluids has been developed. The method has been applied to the Percus Yevick and Hypernetted Chain approximations, particularly in the region of the liquid-vapour co-existence curve. It is shown that the Percus Yevick approximation predicts a phase change in a Lennard-Jones fluid. The predicted critical density is not particularly sensitive to the range of the attractive...[Show more]
