Solutions of the nonlinear diffusion equation : existence, uniqueness, and estimation

Description

In the first part of the thesis a problem for the nonlinear diffusion equation with diffusion coefficient a function of concentration, which is reduced by a similarity substitution to a boundary value problem for a nonlinear ordinary differential equation, is considered. Existence of a solution with certain upper and lower bounds is demonstrated for diffusion coefficient satisfying a local Lipschitz condition, and uniqueness is proved for non-increasing diffusion coefficient.
