Macroevolutionary patterns of salt tolerance in angiosperms
BACKGROUND: Halophytes are rare, with only 0·25% of angiosperm species able to complete their life cycle in saline conditions. This could be interpreted as evidence that salt tolerance is difficult to evolve.
