Description
Romanization has been avoided in this study wherever possible. A source should be considered Chinese unless obviously English or unless specified as such. Where Romanization has been unavoidable, as in the case of Chinese personal and place names, the p~n-y~n system has generally been followed. Well-established spellings, such as Chiang Kai-shek and Peking, have been retained.
