Fletcher, Neville H.; Rossing, Thomas D.

Bells are among the oldest and most cherished of all musical instruments in human history. Bells existed in the Near East before 1000 B.C., and a number of Chinese bells from the time of the Shang dynasty (1600–1100 B.C.) are found in museums throughout the world. A set of tuned bells from the fifth century B.C. was recently discovered in the Chinese province of Hubei.
