Family size preferences in Pakistan

In this study, an attempt is made to investigate and identify the most important predictors of family size preferences in Pakistan. The analysis is based on cross-sectional data of 9416 currently married women under age 50 from a national survey in 1979-80. The findings of the analysis suggest that having sons in the family was the principal predictor, particularly for desired family size and desire for future births.
