This thesis considers Caucus and foreign policy, defence, conscription, and economic issues including the Commonwealth Bank. In the years John Curtin was Leader of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party, the thesis examines the Italo-Abyssinian dispute of 1935, the Munich crisis of 1938 and how Caucus dealt with issues arising in the Second World War, including conscription, banking legislation, and the Bretton Woods Agreement.
