'Who are the Traitors?': Rethinking the Eureka Stockade
Two possible lines of inquiry will be pursued here. First we will examine how Victorians themselves understood what had transpired. Second, the response in the 'Mother Country' requires further study. In particular, in what ways did later commentators see past the shadow of the Southern Cross?
