DmpFG is a bifunctional enzyme comprised of an aldolase subunit, DmpG, and a dehydrogenase subunit, DmpF. The aldehyde intermediate produced by the aldolase is channeled directly through a buried molecular channel in the protein structure from the aldolase to the dehydrogenase active site.
