The state of the financial system in the West Bank and Gaza
Abstract
The linked economies of the Palestinian territories had maintained a semblance of economic vitality prior to the start of the Israel–Hamas war, but the devastation in Gaza and a difficult new economic reality is posing a serious threat to the stability of the banking system in the West Bank. In addition, the Palestinian Authority, the largest employer and spender in the economy, is now experiencing its most severe crisis since its inception and faces the real possibility of default.
