Supplementary submission in response to the AER (Retail Law) Performance Reporting Procedures and Guidelines Review

Abstract

This submission was made to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) Performance Reporting Procedures and Guidelines consultation in December 2024. The purpose of the AER consultation was to review the performance data reported by energy retailers and to make improvements where necessary. The consultation occurred in two stages with stakeholders invited to respond to an Issues Paper and subsequently the Draft Guidelines. The AER published revised Guidelines and an Explanatory Statement in August 2024. This supplementary submission responds to the AER’s decision to withdraw card-operated meter indicators from the revised Guidelines and discusses how this decision interacts with the national First Nations Clean Energy Strategy.
