A modular approach to the preparation of functional polyethylenes is presented. Polycyclooctene polymers are prepared via ring opening metathesis polymerization. The internal alkene bonds of the subsequent polyclycooctenes are exploited using photochemical thiol-ene click chemistry. A range of branched, amphiphilic, and fluorinated polyethylenes are synthesized.en
