dc.description.abstractThe Beijing massacre and the purge that has followed in its wake, along with the solemn discussions among exiled groups about China’s future, have clouded much of the excitement and absurdity of the events of the fifty days of protest leading up to 3 June. Here I record the events in Beijing as I experienced them, and attempt to capture something of the heady atmosphere of those days (and nights).en
