Abstract

The synthesis of buciclate ester of testosterone, C30H 46O3, as a part of World Health Organization's programme for the development of injectable contraceptive steroids, was analyzed. The aim of the program was to develop long-acting injectable steroids for both men and women that retained an approximately constant pharmacokinetic profile. The steroid synthesis programme focused on making new esters, oximes and ethers of steroids with known contraceptive activity. The crystal structure and conformation of the steroid was the same as expected to be.
