Abstract
In a paper delivered at a symposium on food labelling held in 1976, a nutritionist from the Commonwealth Department of Health had this to say: "More and more food preparation is being taken out of the household kitchen and more and more responsibility for nutritional health is passing to industry. It is important that the food industry be persuaded to firstly look at the nutritional quality of the food placed on the market and secondly to disseminate sound nutrition
information." (English, 1976).
